NAD/Mitochondrial Support Program

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD), is a micronutrient produced by the body that is essential for healthy mitochondria. Mitochondria are organelles within each cell that produce energy. Simply put, if the mitochondria are not functioning properly the cell loses energy, and by extension we lose energy as well.

The amount of NAD produced by the body gradually declines as we age. David Sinclair PhD from Harvard University (author of the book; “Why we age and why we don’t have to”) has identified NAD as a critical substrate that is capable of reversing some of the symptoms of aging.

Why not oral supplements?

The problem with NAD oral supplements is that they cannot be absorbed from the
stomach. Therefore the supplement, Tru Niagen, consists of a precursor to NAD called nicotinamide riboside. Studies have shown that this supplement can increase NAD
levels in the blood. However, the individual effect may vary.

FAQ

All patients are required to “try before they buy.” You’ll start with a Subcutaneous injection (quick shot) of NAD before signing up for Self-Administered NAD injections. Your Quick Shot of NAD will be a 25mg dose, injected at the DRIPBaR. Call the office or book your appointment online. (401) 921-5934.

After your injection, you may sign-up for the program and receive your NAD in either one month or three-month increments. You are required to pay in full before NAD can be ordered as it is patient specific.

You will pay for each month in advance and may cancel at any time in writing. You must provide 15 days written notification of cancellation. There are NO refunds, NAD is patient specific, and we cannot refund. No Exceptions will be made.

You will pay for each quarter (3 months) in advance and may cancel anytime in writing. You must provide 30 days written notification of cancellation before your next scheduled payment. There are NO refunds, NAD is patient specific, and we can not refund. No Exceptions will be made.

We will order your NAD, and schedule your first injection training with an RN in our office. This will be a 15-minute appointment.

The program covers 15-minute appointments as needed with an RN to answer questions related to injection training and NAD. If you require an appointment, please contact the office and schedule with an RN.

Age 40+: NAD declines in all of us as we age. We recommend routine supplementation in individuals 40+. There is no age at which it is too late to begin NAD for the purposes of mitochondrial support.

Under 40 years old:  Individuals less than 40 but who suffer with chronic inflammatory, Lyme’s disease, long-haul post Covid syndrome, neurodegenerative, autoimmune phenomenon, or chronic fatigue syndromes may also benefit. It is safe for any individual to implement this program and evaluate it based upon their response.

Since NAD is a natural substance within the body, and is one of the family of B3 vitamins, it is extraordinarily safe with very few known adverse effects. Other than those who demonstrate an allergic reaction to the product, there are no barriers to its use.

For those of you in the injectable NAD program, we do not feel that the oral supplement has added value.

It is possible to use it more frequently than three times per week. The three times a week recommendation is our best judgment regarding its optimum cost/benefit. There is no known hazard to using it more often. Although we know that NAD is a critical component to support mitochondria in the fight against aging, the ideal dose and frequency are still under study.
